How to Make My Favorite Southern Style Biscuits

There is absolutely nothing like biscuits on Sunday morning. The other day I had some down time and decided to bake. Afterwards, I ended up with a delicious but quite unsightly biscuit that was busting at the seams. Ha!

BUT, it was delicious.

Here is my favorite southern biscuit recipe, perfect with English Clotted Cream and Jam!

  1. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees.

    1. Combine all of the dry ingredients, mixing thoroughly

    2. Add cubed butter and shortening while quickly breaking them up to get rid of the large pieces.

    3. Mix in the buttermilk.

    4. Roll out the dough until it is fully floured and fold 5-6 times.

    5. Roll out the dough until it is about 1 inch thick.

    6. Cut out the biscuits using a 2 inch cutter and place them on a cooking sheet about ½ an inch apart.

    7. Rework the dough enough to continue cutting out the biscuits.

    8. Bake the biscuits for 10-12 minutes until they're lightly golden.
